A synthy trio that formed this year and which describes itself as "the Paul Pfeiffer of bands," Lean Hounds are a welcome addition to the electronica contingency of Austin's musical landscape. In the last couple of years we've witnessed breakout projects like Fillenium Malcon and Human Milk hit stages and release albums, to say nothing of Survive from Light Lodge records, Silent Diane and more...it's an exciting time to be tired of guitars and live drums.

But if some of this is new to you, tonight is a pretty great way to get caught up. Aside from Lean Hounds, we've got How I Quit Crack playing, a one-woman, hazy, super-neon slow-pop distortion fest. Maybe like Depeche Mode given the Screw treatment? It's unlike most of what you'll see in Austin this year, and the name is not a just a glib reference to drug use. Lay Bac, as you could probably guess from their name, fits oh-so-smoothly into the recent renaissance of easygoing, slightly psyched-out dance music that fans of Washed Out, etc. will instantly recognize. Finally, Missions will be DJing. The first thirty people through the ND's doors get a copy of the Lean Hounds' new EP, so punctuality will pay off.
