Before you head on out to their heavily anticipated reunion tours later this week, bust out your flannels and tattered jeans to wax nostalgic with two of indie rock’s most celebrated bands of the 1990’s -- legendary Matador alums Guided By Voices and Pavement. Alamo Drafthouse has teamed up with End Of An Ear and Matador for a very special Music Monday featuring a double header of Watch Me Jumpstart and Slow Century.
This special screening kicks off with a behind the scenes film by Guided By Voices mega-fan Banks Tarver. Watch Me Jumpstart takes you back to Dayton, Ohio and chronicles the lives of Robert Pollard and the original Guided By Voices lineup as they explain their unexpected fame and predict their uncertain future.
Next on the silver screen is music video director Lance Bangs’ Slow Century. This Pavement documentary spans from 1989-99, encompassing bulk of the band’s existence. This glimpses into rock and roll history is chock-full of heady interviews featuring Stephen Malkmus and longtime friend Thurston Moore, as well as music videos and vintage live show footage that will leave fans searching for their old cassette tapes.
