Pixies at Austin Music Hall [Preview]

Last fall, the Pixies marked the 20th Anniversary of Doolittle with a tour across Europe and the U.S. where they played the entire album and its b-sides. They only covered 9 cities stateside during those dates (which included three nights at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York), so this month they started the tour back up again to cover a few more cities across the country.

The band begins a two night stand at Austin Music Hall tomorrow night. The original date for Wednesday night is sold out, but Tuesday's show was added and there are still some remaining tickets (as of now) for the show.

From "Debaser" to "Gouge Away", Doolittle found the band reaching the Billboard charts for the first time (it spent two weeks within the Top 100 album chart, something that was more difficult to do back in the days when people actually bought music) and receiving commercial radio play for the single "Here Comes Your Man." A cursory glance at setlist.fm shows that the bulk of the show is exactly as advertised, but there looks to be a little bit of flexibility in what we could hear during the encores.

If you're headed out to the shows (or even if you can't make it), you can order a 2 cd recording that is mastered on the fly during the performance over at Doolittle Live. The ultimate collectible, direct from the band, you can literally take the show home with you when its over.

British electronic noisemakers Fuck Buttons will open up both nights.

Matt, are you sure they're playing tonight? Frontgate's site and pixiesmusic.com both say tomorrow and Wednesday, not tonight.

Just called AMH and they said there's no show there tonight. Phew. I was having a heart attack there for a moment.

Hey Rich, this wasn't supposed to be posted until tomorrow morning. I will correct that info since it is up earlier than expected. Good eye!
