If you've never had fun in your life, a good time to start would be with a wander down to Red 7 tonight, because, friends, Shonen Knife is playing. Or, as the band may say, "oo-oo-ultra-eccentric-super-cult-punk-pop-band-shonen-knife!" But really, for serious.

For the newbies to the Shonen Knife world out there, here's a little background to the legends: three women from Osaka have been playing clean, energetic, pop-punk about things like jelly beans and barbecues since 1981. Yeah, 1981. And they're still good. And they still like their job. And they, somehow, look more like they may have been born in 1981, rather than that being the time they started playing music together. And, in a couple nice bits of trivia, they opened for Nirvana on a UK tour back in '91, and had one of their songs on Beavis and Butthead. And when they played Fun Fest a while back, it was super-awesome-time, and at a joint like Red 7, one can only imagine what fun will be had.

Opening up is a delightfully diverse slew of bands, and all from our fine city of Austin---a nice complement to the headliner's long distance act. Burning up the stage one by one are Petals, Cowabunga Babez, and The Carrots, all of whom know how to have a good time.
