Food: Vote For Your Favorite Austin Food Trailer

Austin, the bad news is that our city is being publicly shamed. The good news is that you can fix it. The Food Network is tallying votes to determine America's favorite food truck -- the winner will get $10,000 and the chance to appear on the next season of The Great Food Truck Race. As it currently stands, not a single Austin food trailer or truck has made it into the top ten. This is nothing short of shocking considering that food trailers are essential to the personality of Austin's food scene. Do you think Philly would stand for some other city winning the title of "best cheese steak"? No freaking way. Austin should be just as indignant.

Here's what you have to do. Go to the contest website and choose Austin, TX from the location drop-down menu. Then decide how to distribute your 10 votes per day among the following Austin food vendors:

  • Austin Daily Press
  • Chilanto BBQ
  • Colibri Cuisine
  • Counter Culture
  • Cutie Pies
  • Flip Happy Crepes
  • Franklin Barbecue
  • Gourdough's
  • Hey Cupcake!
  • Holy Cacao
  • The Jalopy
  • La Boite
  • Mighty Cone
  • mmmpanadas
  • Odd Duck Farm to Trailer
  • OneTaco
  • The Shedd BBQ's Rolling Joint
  • Takorea
  • Torchy's Tacos
  • The Vegan Yacht

According to Bundle.com, Austin spends more on food and drinks than any other city -- almost twice the national average. With all that eating out we know you must have some strong opinions on your favorite food trailer, so log on and rock the vote. Oh, and there's something in it for you, too. With every vote, you're entered for a chance to win a trip to the New York City Wine and Food Festival, October 7 - 10, 2010.

Voting ends this Friday, September 10, so get on it!

Of course Austin is not going to win considering many of the other cities have MANY more people living there who will of course vote for their hometown trailers.

(Also you have to register for a contest to vote and give up your contact info)

All shame is reserved for those sad, desperate souls whoring themselves out to appear on reality television.

Besides, with ten votes per user per day, any statistical reliability of the voting process instantly removes any shred of cred from this pathetic little popularity contest.

The food trailers that kick ass will always have support of diehard foodies long after this show is cancelled.

Turn off your television and go outside if you want to experience reality!
