Another month is coming to an end and that can only mean one thing: Rebecca Havemeyer is about to reach into her Celluloid Handbag for another cinematic treat at the Alamo Ritz. This month, she's screening the 1997 comic gem Waiting For Guffman. Even though this picture is set in small-town Missouri, it was actually filmed in Austin and Lockhart and was given the Star Of Texas Award at the Texas Film Hall Of Fame earlier this year.

Directed by This Is Spinal Tap alum Christopher Guest, this was the first in his own series of "mockumentary" films. Much of the same cast and crew continued to work together over the years, creating the largely improvised movies Best In Show, A Mighty Wind, and For Your Consideration.

In Guffman, Guest stars as Corky St. Clair, a flamboyant man with Broadway aspirations. When he decides to direct a musical tribute for Blaine, Missouri's 150th anniversary, the production doesn't go quite as smoothly as he'd imagined. Also starring Catherine O'Hara, Parker Posey, Fred Willard and Eugene Levy, this is one of the best comedies of the 90's.

Grab your The Remains Of The Day lunch box and My Dinner With Andre action figures and head on down to the Ritz tonight!
