Food: Dish Of The Week - Casino El Camino Verde Chile Fries

Editor's note: Dish Of The Week is a new feature highlighting some of Austin's best dishes - from sushi to okra to curry. If you have a suggestion for future entries in the series, drop us a line at food (at) austinist.com.

What: Verde Chile Fries

Where: Casino El Camino, 517 East 6th Street, 469-9330

How Much: $5.75

Why We Love It: Any dish that involves fried food doused in cheese is bound to be tasty, but Casino El Camino elevates junk food to more than just a guilty pleasure.

Casino starts the dish with crisply fried potatoes and then ladles homemade queso and tomatillo verde salsa on top, creating a side that is super crunchy, a little spicy, and very rich. This may not be the most healthy dish, but sometimes you just have to indulge. An order is more than enough to split with a friend, but don't be surprised if you find yourself gobbling up these babies before you can share.

Next time you stop into Casino for a bite before taking in a show downtown, add an order of chile verde fries to your tab--you won't regret it.
