This weekend, you’re in for a treat. Tonight through Saturday, the Paramount's Summer Film Series will be bringing us 1961's film adaptation of the Tony Award-winning musical West Side Story, based on Shakespere’s Romeo and Juliet.

Starring the delightful Natalie Wood and directed by Robert Wise and Jerome Robbins, the story revolves around two 1950's New York City feuding gangs—the Jets and the Sharks—who have found it impossible to coexist and battle each other through song and dance—almost like a 50’s version of Step Up 2: Take it to the Streets. When Tony, a former Jet, meets Maria, the sister of a Shark, the two immediately fall in love—but is their love strong enough to end the hatred between the two warring gangs? West Side Story won 10 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and still holds the title of being the musical film with the most Academy Award wins.

There's also no better time than now to support the Paramount Theater as it undergoes urgent repairs to the theater’s 100-year-old plumbing system. The theater is still going to be operational during the construction period, as none of the regular programming has been rescheduled. However, we urge you to support the theater by attending the events and if possible, making a donation.
