Though Beerland is frequently the go-to joint for straight outta the garage pop/punk, this evening Emo's is hosting a bunch of local and touring bands who prefer the gritty and gummy. Ty Segall is in town from San Francisco, and are currently on a big tour through the States and Canada. Segall is the name of the guy and his band - he's had a number of collaborators over the years, though it looks like his current incarnation is possibly a five-piece. Their latest album is called Melted, out on Goner Records. On tour with Ty Segall are fellow Californians Royal Baths, whose sound is steeped much deeper in stoner psychedelia. Their first album will be released next month on Woodsist Records.

But whatever California serves we can volley right back to 'em, and our own Hex Dispensers are on the bill to show everyone how it's done. Last year they gave us Winchester Mystery House album, and we're looking forward to whatever's next. And that's not all! The band Moonhearts also lend support, as do A Giant Dog. When you Google "A Giant Dog," image results include this artist's rendering of dog dookie which broke free of its restraints and knocked over a power line...shit's getting out of hand, no?
