Tickets On Sale For Metropolis Screening At Seaholm
Film lovers around the globe were ecstatic when news broke in the summer of 2008 that a print of Fritz Lang's classic science-fiction film Metropolis was found in Argentina, almost 25 minutes longer than any known copy in existence.
A new restoration, incorporating this newly found footage, was completed over the course of a year. While a lot of work had to be done on the severely damaged 16mm print from Argentina, this negative provided a new blueprint for editing them film into a version that represents Lang's original vision for the movie for the first time since it was premiered in Berlin back in January 1927.
Now, The Complete Metropolis is heading to Austin in a special presentation at the Seaholm Power Plant. The Alamo Drafthouse will premiere the restoration locally on September 11th with a live orchestral score performed by Golden Hornet Project.
Tickets went on sale today—general admission tickets are $25, VIP tickets $75. After the Seaholm screening, The Complete Metropolis will play at the Alamo Ritz from September 17-23.
