That debut self-titled album, released last year, features Temple's dizzying tenor, stream-of-consciousness lyrical loops, swirling electronic textures and bedroom folk. The sum of these various parts is a kaleidoscopic pop sound that sounds out of left field. Here We Go Magic was a five-piece band by the time they recorded their second album, Pigeons, which came out in June on Secretly Canadian. The album is the logical extension of their kitchen-sink, panoramic sound, best exemplified by its first single, "Collector".
They'll play Emo's outside stage, with fellow Brooklynites Beach Fossils opening. With a name like that, you can probably guess that they play a summery, nostalgic brand of lo-fi guitar pop. The band made a splash (har) at this year's SXSW; their eponymous debut album is built on noodling, cleanly-picked guitar lines that will get stuck in your head for hours.
Local outfit Oh No Oh My will also perform. The band released their first album, Oh No! Oh My!, in 2006, and followed that up with an EP in 2008. A second full-length is currently in the works. Oh No Oh My's jangly twee sound has been compared to Sufjan Stevens, the Magnetic Fields and the Shins, and design enthusiasts, take note: over at their MySpace, the band is hosting a poster contest. The winning entry will be plastered on club walls during the band's next tour.
