KUT Begins Armadillo Tribute Week Today

Even though it's not around anymore, the Armadillo lives on in the hearts of people who lived it and the subconscious of those who didn't. Its mystery and power have pervaded Austin's music scene since it opened in 1970, and our city's reputation as a sort of 'ground zero' for music in the U.S. owes much to the legend of that great establishment. It is because of this lasting impression and influence that KUT 90.5 FM is celebrating what would have been the 40th birthday of the venue all this week. Starting at 9 a.m. this morning, they'll be counting down every single artist that ever played the venue (in chronological order) beginning with Shiva's Headband. The countdown will culminate with a one hour special on Friday at noon called "Home With the Armadillo".
