Susana Garza Tells Us About AustintatiousDeals.com, The Latest Local Daily Deal Site

Following in the footsteps of successful daily deal sites like Groupon and Living Social, a group of marketing and PR types recently unveiled a new Austin-centric site focused on the "stylish and unique."

AustintatiousDeals.com, which launched on Wednesday, offers daily deals on fashion, home decor, restaurants and entertainment, among others. We got in touch with Susana Garza, one of the folks behind the site, to see just what all the hype was about.

Everyone seems to be launching "daily deals" sites left and right -- what does Austintatious Deals bring to the table that we haven’t found with Groupon, LivingSocial, etc?

Austintatious Deals provides urban chic, magnificent deals in Austin everyday. As we all know, Austin is a young and trendy city so our mission is to provide deals from contemporary fashions, home décor, delectable restaurants, around-town happenings, travel destinations and services. Austin isn’t like any other city so we’re providing our customers, “Austinites”, with the kind of deals that cannot be provided by any other company. Our company was founded by people who live work and play in Austin, so our deals are more relevant to residents of Austin, and not just a big company that treats everyone around the country the same way.

How do you negotiate and decide which businesses to feature in your deals?

We love to showcase unique businesses in Austin. People may have driven by it, thousand times and have no idea how savvy and unique they are. Once we decide if a business is “Austintatious” for our online community, we meet with them to develop a deal that are profitable to their business and not just ours. Groupon takes 50% of the company’s revenue and if you are already operating on a small margin, which most businesses are in this economy, they tend to breakeven or loose money on the deal overall.

Austintatious Deals provides more packages allowing small and medium sized company to run deals at different levels so they can run a successful promotion. We take pride in our ability to develop promotions that is uniquely tailored to a company’s business and mission. Therefore, some businesses will only be featured in our Around Town pages and others will have their spots on our variety of deals. We have daily deals, weekly deals and monthly deals. We work with businesses to make sure that we are providing them with the best deal so that they attain their goals of working with our company.

Tell us briefly about your background and how you started this company.

The founders of Austintatious Deals are veteran professionals with more than thirty-five years of marketing, advertising, communications, public relations and social media experience -- both domestic and internationally. They decided they needed three things to create a successful social media startup: to start with good people, to make something customers actually need and want, and to spend as little money as possible. They have accomplished all three. The “idea” has already been implemented, they have just revamped it to the next level of the various unique deals Austin has to offer.

What are some of the businesses that we can expect to see featured in the coming weeks?

Some of the businesses that we are excited to be working with our Hush Hush Tan, Cheeky Skin, Elluminize, Dragon Gate by Phoenix, Bittersweet Cakes and Catering, Fox and Brie, Distinct Details, Aroma-Chic Cleaning and many more surprises to come.

How can local businesses get in touch with you if they'd like to participate?

If a local business thinks that they are truly Austintatious, they can send us an e-mail at contact@austintatiousdeals.com.

This website seems like a complete fake. Check out their past deals section of their website. Here are some highlights :

    29/06/2010 pizza pizza Savings : $300

    26/06/2010 chocalate Savings : $350

    34/06/2010 bread Savings : $900

Most of the links do not work. Also the payment system is just somebody's Paypal account.
