Breaking: Fun Fun Fun Fest Lineup Leaks

With each successive year, Transmission Entertainment’s little festival that could has become a bigger, better beast. After beginning as a single day event in 2006, Fun Fun Fun Fest quickly switched to a weekend format, and at times, has upped the ante from three stages to four. The talent has always been stellar, and additional fun activities around the grounds seem to taking on a life of their own as well. (Rumor has it that the fourth stage this year will be something special -- details TBA!) It should come as no surprise then that early signs hint at the fifth edition as being the grandest one yet. For the first time in the fest's history, the pre-lineup announcement Early Bird tickets have sold out completely. As the festival's official media sponsor, it's only fair (and high time) that we start spilling the beans on the lineup. The complete bill will be announced next month but until then, each week, starting today, we'll be leaking three bands performing at this year's Fun Fest. Drum roll please.

Suicidal Tendencies' hard hitting aural onslaught was a favorite of metal and punk fans alike back in the day. Now a new generation (and old fans, of course) will get to witness the California band's mayhem live in concert. Lights...Camera...Revolution! from 1990 should be a staple of every heavy music connoisseur's iPod rotation, we reckon. Next up, we're thrilled that oft-controversial rapper Slick Rick (or Richard Walters) will be bringing his novel gift for storytelling and hits like “Treat Her Like A Prostitute” to Waterloo Park. Offering up legendary artists at each edition has truly become a Fun Fest tradition, if not a trademark. Let that take nothing away from the third Fun Fest performer to be revealed today, Best Coast. Although a very new act, it's safe to say that their irresistible melodies could fit in in any generation. The brainchild of Bethany Consentino, Best Coast will surely shed plenty of sunshine at this Fun Fest, regardless of exasperating dust storms or unending downpours. Here's to Fun Fest 2010 -- may it be another unforgettable addition to Austin, Texas' rich chronicles.

  • Austin is such an active city there is always something going on, that's what is great about london, you can guarantee yourself food no matter what the hour. Shame the less populated areas can't be like this too.

    Adi,

Quick, before anyone else reads this posting, substitute the text, "Lights...Camera...Revolution from 1990" with the text, "Their 1983 self titled album".

    Seriously, just do it. Quick!

    Seth
