Party for a Cause with Pixel Pop at the Mohawk
Fashion, art, and music will collide this Friday at the Mohawk for the first ever Pixel Pop event. The brainchild of From the Mind of Adi, Electric Promotions and Team Fabrication, Pixel Pop is a fusion of live fashion, visual art, comic books and local music.
Jen Rea and Erin Mikulenko of Team Fabrication will be presenting a new comic-book themed fashion collection alongside art on display from illustrator Chad Townsend. There will also be live sketching throughout the night by local artists such as Jeannine Schafer.
On the outside stage, The Happen-Ins and Candi and the Strangers will be performing in between DJ sets from uLovei. Later in the evening, the Bubbles will bring the house down on the inside stage.
If you'd like to make some art yourself, DIY dynamo The WonderCraft will be offering crafty make-and-take projects. Anne Marie Beard will be at the party making custom mini-wallets for those who feel more comfortable picking out fabric and leaving the stitching to the experts.
Be sure to catch not one, but two, comic-book inspired photobooths from Annie Ray and Trevor Ray Thompson.
The cherry on top? Partial proceeds of this event go towards supporting Heath Alliance for Austin (HAAM), which ensures that local musicians have access to affordable health care.
