Koi Taken From Zilker Botanical Garden

Staff at the Isamu Taniguchi Japanese Garden part of the Zilker Botanical Garden noticed a couple weeks ago that the number of koi in their lotus pond had decreased. It turns out that thirteen of the beautiful fish had been stolen, and by someone who went to a lot of trouble to move them. It takes about 10 gallons of water to transport one koi safely, and that's after the ordeal of attempting to catch the fish. Unfortunately APD has no leads who might have taken the koi. The Parks and Rec department says it will cost $150 to $200 to replace them. [Statesman Blotter]

.... Or, a homeless person gigged, cooked, and ate them. Depending on the size, it's possible they fell victim to a bird or raccoon.
