Food: Asti Throws Another LobsterFest This Weekend

Hundreds of lobsters make their tasty transition to the afterlife this week at Asti, a small, modern Italian trattoria in Hyde Park. The highly regarded and bustling restaurant is owned by culinary power team Emmett and Lisa Fox, who also man FINO.

For the 10th consecutive year, the Foxes will be hosting LobsterFest at Asti from July 8th-10th.

This "fest" might sound like a crustacean-studded spectacle, but it's more like a really nice meal for two (comprised of a three-course dinner). The cost is $75 per couple. LobsterFest menu options mercifully allow patrons to enjoy lobster in a romantic setting without the use of bibs and/or copious amounts of butter. The options are:

  • Tomato Caprese Salads with House Made Mozzarella & Fresh Basil
  • Lobster Fra Diavolo with Spaghetti and/or Lobster Risotto with Summer Corn
  • Watermelon Granita with Whipped Cream & Fresh Watermelon
Regular menu items will also be offered a la carte. Reservations for LobsterFest are a must and can be made by calling 512.451.1218. If you're curious to learn more about Asti, you can check out Lisa Fox's blog For the Love of Food for an extended piece on their gnocchi. You can also read up on Brad Sorenson, the Asti chef who appeared just recently on The Next Food Network Star. Finally, our own Spike Gillespie also wrote a sweet review of Asti earlier this year.

Asti is located at 408 East 43rd Street in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Austin. The phone number is 512.451.1218.
