Musicians Alert: Sound Wars
The Austin Chronicle’s Sound Wars contest is back! Add your band’s information to the Chronicle’s Musicians Register by July 1st for a chance to perform at The 20th Annual Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festival at Waterloo Park on August 29th. Be sure to “opt-in” on that registry to qualify for the competition. The first round of voting begins on July 5th and ends on the 9th. The top ten vote-getters proceed to the second round -- voting for this final round commences on the 12th and concludes on the 16th. The winner is set to be announced on July 19th. Besides the opportunity to showcase its tunes to the masses on August 29th, the triumphant act will also receive due compensation and a half-page ad in the Chronicle. Not bad a deal, we reckon.
Bands participating in the Chronicle's SOUND WARS must be based in the Austin area. Participating bands must agree to upload one song in the MP3 digital format for voters to listen to. Only one song will be allowed in the competition. Competing songs must be original compositions by the participating band. To qualify to win the Hot Sauce Festival performance slot, the band must be able to perform a full musical set of at least 30 minutes.
