The Buzzcocks formed in Manchester in 1975, inspired by the infectious, rattling punk of the Sex Pistols, and very quickly became the leaders of the pop punk movement in the late '70s in the UK and beyond. Their fast and furious take on traditional pop music endeared them to the Sex Pistols, and in 1976 they joined the punk legends on their Anarchy Tour. All this before they even had a proper record out. After the tour, they started their own label, New Hormones, and released their debut EP, Spiral Scratch. This was the first DIY label of the punk movement, and it carved out an indelible mark for the Buzzcocks in the punk rock history books.

At this point, Howard Devoto was ready to move on, leaving Pete Shelley with lead vocalist duties. Devoto went on to form Magazine, and Shelley's high-pitched, nasal voice wound up being one of the defining features of the Buzzcocks' sound. The combination of Shelley and guitarist Steve Diggle ushered in the golden era of the band's success. In 1977, they signed to United Artists and released some of their most popular songs, including "What Do I Get" and "Ever Fallen In Love?" Their first single, "Orgasm Addict", was refused by BBC but made the underground rounds and helped propel the young band to international acclaim.

They disbanded in 1981, and everyone went on to do other things. Since then, there have been a handful of reunions, including one in 2006 for their album Flat-Pack Philosophy (Cooking Vinyl). Since then, they've reissued their first three records, and this tour -- called the Another Bites tour -- will feature the band performing Another Music in a Different Kitchen and Love Bites (both released in 1978) in their entirety. Though the $20 ticket price seems pretty reasonable, we'd like to offer you a chance to go for free:
