In their second-to-last show of this season, Conspirare Symphonic Choir will present "Dynamic Convergence," a program featuring not only Maurice Duruflé's Requiem Op. 9, but also James MacMillan’s Cantos Sagrados (Sacred Songs), and Let Nothing Ever Grieve Thee by Johannes Brahms. Joining the vocalists of Conspirare for this performance are organists Gerre Hancock and Dr. Judith Hancock.

The program juxtaposes music from the 19th century with two pieces from the twentieth. Duruflé's Requiem was written in 1945, in memory of the composer's father. The composer drew on themes from Georgian chants, incorporating them into the piece. James MacMillan composed Cantos Sagrados in 1989, mixing the work of Latin American poets with much older Latin texts.

For those unfamiliar with Conspirare, the choir is in its eighteenth season and has garnered several Grammy nominations and numerous other gold stars in its history. Based in Austin, Conspirare performs around central Texas, and also features learning choirs for younger folks looking to develop their vocal talents.
