Local label Autobus Records is teaming up with a few local blogs and businesses to put together a musical showcase of many of the artists associated with the label. It's all happening at Stubb's BBQ (inside) Saturday evening.
The performances will run the gamut from Autobus voices we've heard previously to some fresh faces. We've reported on Martin Crane's Brazos project quite often in the past, and this show "will likely be the last time you have to catch Brazos for a little while," says Autobus (quite mysteriously, we should add). Mark David Ashworth will be joining us from California to play songs from his new record Bright is the Ring of Words, and The Weird Weeds (hard at work on a new album) will also perform.
But we'd be remiss if we didn't concentrate on the new hotness in the lineup, which here is represented by young guy Will Patterson and his new band Sleep Good. Also a member of Sunset, Patterson has completed his first album for the Autobus label entitled Skyclimber (out June 15th). Our first listen to the record reveals Revolver-era harmonies and pop-centric studio whimsy.
The show is $7, but the first 50 who RSVP can get in for $5. Also, Birds will have free Lone Star for the first hour of the show.
