Austinist Sponsors: La Condesa's Cinco De Mayo Block Party On 2nd Street Tonight
La Condesa's Cinco de Mayo Downtown Block Party takes over W. 2nd St. (between Guadalupe St. and San Antonio St.) tonight from 5 to 10 p.m. The second annual street fair event drew 3,000 patrons last year and should again prove to be a popular Cinco De Mayo stop this evening.
The main event here is music: there will be sets from Grupo Fantasma spinoff band Brownout, Ocote Soul Sounds, Mariachi Tamazula, and longtime 2nd Street favorite DJ Chicken George. Street food booths serving tacos, grilled corn, sno cones, and more from a whole host of vendors such as Malaga and La Condesa round out the festivities. Leslie Montoya of (Univision’s Despierta Austin) will MC the event; Malverde hosts the after-party with still more tunes courtesy of MartÃn Perna and Adrian Quesada (from Ocote Soul Sounds) and DJ Chicken George.
One final note: this event is free and open to all ages.
