It is time again for the quarterly installment of Rock The Casbah. This one is Mel's 38th edition of this curate’d nostalgia dance-party brainchild, hatched with love so many moons back. Indeed!

There are many 80s nights out there nowadays, and we think it is a healthy thing. It reminds us of back in the 90s, back when Dr. Dre was still pimping the 70s influenced Funkadelic style, and there were countless "70s nights" out there where DJs would spin classic anthems of the era. The Boogie Nights, the Brick House, and the ubiquitously embarrassing wedding jam YMCA. But now the popular call-back producer-groups are MGMT, The Drums (somewhat popular, we suppose), and, dare it be said, Timbaland (Really? Yes. That dude's still cranking out 80s-influenced pop for the FM radio, so crazy). The roots for their production style lay squarely on the pop sounds that were crafted in the 80s era.

That said, it is safe to say that Mel's many-years-running RTC has been the lighthouse for those who crave the I Want My MTV songs to sing along with, to sweat all over, and to go dancing like rabid apes on for a few hours. Congrats on #38 Mel!
