Austin Bike Summit 2010, April 9-10

The Austin Bike Summit 2010 is this Friday and Saturday (April 9-10th). The Austin Bike Summit 2010 is a gathering opportunity for local bicycling proponents, whether you're already active or only aspiring. This is the place to get connected with the movement and to reenergize. Participants will assess where Austin bicycling has come, discuss where Austin bicycling should be, and plan & organize to get to a better bicycling Austin. The Summit will consist of a dozen workshops plus informal networking sessions to share knowledge and maximize efforts through collaboration.


The Austin Bike Summit 2010 is brought to you by the the League of Bicycling Voters, Austin Cycling Association, Yellow Bike Project, and Bike Texas. Registration to the summit events are FREE, thanks to the sponsors: Easy Street Recumbents, Mellow Johnny's Bike Shop, Bicycle Sport Shop, Thunderbird Coffee, Greenling Organics, Rocket Shower spray body cleaner, Longhorn Po-boys & Falafel, Independence Brewing, and others.

Friday April 9th 6pm-11pm
6pm Bike Ride -- Meet at Pfluger Bike/Ped Bridge over Lady Bird Lake near Lamar Blvd.

7pm-11pm Social, Speakers, Food, and Drink -- Bike Texas, 1902 E. 6th St. @ Chicon St.

Saturday April 10th 8:15am-late
8:15am-6pm -- Workshops, Food, and Coffee -- Yellow Bike Project, 1216 Webberville Rd. @ E. 12th St.

6pm-late -- Social, Networking, Food, and Drink -- Yellow Bike Project

    Btw, I think the event is great for getting people involved in the movement to get better access for cyclists in this town. I'm just getting annoyed by the car vs. bike positions that both sides take with no apparent willingness to compromise.

    Is any part of this set aside for non-cyclists to come and exchange views with cyclists? Or is this yet again another cyclist only event that will promote the same kind of division that already exists between motorists and riders? Based on recent comments on the Statesman site it is quite obvious that the two sides are not working together.
