Austinist is proud to present Yeasayer's second night at La Zona Rosa this Sunday, April 11.

The band's critically-acclaimed debut, All Hour Cymbals, caught many listeners off-guard. Their eccentric mix of Far Eastern sounds, dance beats and thick low end undertones stood out, and eventually took the band on a world-wide tour to support it. Needless to say, fans and critics alike were eager for the group's sophomore effort. Odd Blood did not disappoint.

The record is an exciting mix dance, R&B and straight-ahead indie rock, but as a sophomore effort it's truly special. Yeasayer didn't decide to make All Hour Cymbals part two, they really did write a completely new set of tunes that draw their sound out of 90s dance, 70s rock and 21st century experimentation. The new songs, while a bit different from what was issued on the debut, are strong indications of Yeasayer's lasting power and gives listeners a wide variety of pieces to latch on to and fall in love with.

Above all, Yeasayer has become one of the most compelling live acts performing today. When they visited us for Fun Fun Fun Fest last year, they were joined by additional musicians, bringing their digital tendencies to a cross-roads with the unadulterated joy of live instrumentation. Frontman Chris Keating's voice has improved with experience playing out -- he's able to reach those high notes from the record now -- and his stage presence is worth taking lessons from.

We're very excited for the show on Sunday and would like to see you there. Fill out the form below for a chance to win. Yeasayer will also be doing a special DJ set at Lambert's on Sat. 4/10 following their show at La Zona Rosa.
