The Wedding Present are an English rock outfit who have been cranking out fantastic singles and albums since the late '80s. Led by singer and songwriter David Gedge, the band has witnessed the birth of independent rock and weathered all of the peaks and valleys therein; the band began in obscurity, had major label dalliances, and eventually returned to their roots. The band's last record, 2008's El Rey, was produced by Steve Albini (who is alive and well) and released by Manifesto Records.

The band's set this evening at Emo's will include the entirety of their 1989 album Bizarro, and the band no doubt has left some room for other high points of their career. Opening for The Wedding Present are locals Ringo Deathstarr, who have been supporting the band on the road as well.
