Ducks Get Texas Relays Off To Fast Start
The 83rd Texas Relays began yesterday at the University of Texas, bringing together some of the world's best track athletes for one of the spring's major meets.
In addition to some 5,000 competitors from the high school, college, and professional ranks, the Relays event draws 10 times that many visitors to Austin from around the globe.
In yesterday's college action, Angelo State's Andria Nussey and TCU's Sean Zurko each set meet records in the women's and men's 800 meters. A pair of Oregon athletes and NCAA champions - Ashton Eaton and Brianne Theisen - got off to fast starts in the decathlon and heptathlon that put them within reach of record totals. Those two athletes will wrap up their efforts today.
The high school athletes begin competing on Friday, and fans can follow live results from all the events online throughout the weekend.
