You may know troubadour Red Hunter from his alias Peter and the Wolf, under which he has released thoughtful, engaging folk records for the last few years. You may remember that he switched modes and began recording under the name Mellow Owl, and you may have checked out his MySpace recently and discovered that he appears to be going by the name Peter and ze WolfOwl these days.

Whatever - Hunter is back, and he's playing at the Mohawk with ol' Tonewheel collective buddy Martin Crane and more. Crane has been busy with his Brazos project, releasing the album Phosphorescent Blues under that name at the tail-end of last year.

We're also excited that Pure Ecstasy are featured on this bill. The band, fronted by Nate Grace, give a local spin on the haze-pop/bedroom anthem craze all the blogs are calling "goat-fi." Check out this video of Grace and his band playing at San Fran's Aquarius Records, as captured by the avant-garde Yours Truly. Also performing are the folky, country-riffic Clay Nightingale.
