What are You Doing Sunday Night? Oscar Party Round-Up!

This weekend, every entertainer you’ve ever heard of is going to be in Los Angeles, and for the first time in a while, it’s not to do a telethon or destroy a semi-sweet memory of a song that really wasn’t that good in the first place. (Auto tune, a rap, and a Pussycat Doll? Really!? Any two of those, sure but all three?!) We’re talking, of course, about the 82nd Annual Academy Awards.

It’s always exciting to see the greatest performances of the year get the recognition they deserve, from the people that mean the most to them—themselves (ba-dum dum!). Hosted by comedy legends Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin, it looks to be better than ever. Yeah, yeah, it’s so rewarding, they’re in it for the art not the accolades, it’s an honor just to be nominated etc. etc...But hey—OMG, what are they wearing??

Yes, almost as important as the annual Oscar betting pool is watching them stand around on the red carpet in human gridlock, waiting to be interviewed by Billy Bush, Ryan Seacrest, and the other automatons. The only thing better than watching an awkward interview is noticing that someone famous is in the background, idly checking his watch waiting for his turn. And the only thing better than that…is when they wear crazy larger than life outfits to ridicule that the general public will later make into a costume for a dog.

But yelling at the television isn’t nearly as fun when you’re alone. So hit one of the swingin’ parties going on all over Austin. Your humble servants have done their best to give you the skinny on the hottest shindigs in town. There’s bound to be one in your neck of the woods and it’s sure to be a blast. They all start at 6 and they’re all bound to fill up, so put on your Vera Wang and get there early!
