New Release Tuesday: Athlete
Athlete are a Deptford UK-based quartet, and Black Swan is their fourth album. The group's epic take on British stadium rock is not necessarily original, but their sound is nonetheless exciting and worth a listen. Joel Pott explained the album title: "We read an article about Nassim Nicholas Taleb and his book The Black Swan. He was saying that our lives are made up of a handful of significant shocks, good or bad. That's exactly how our journey has been over the last six years. We've had lots of unexpected highs and lows, as a band and as people." The result is a sort Coldplay-esque little record, but an astonishing one regardless.
