Chief TOMS Shoe Giver to Speak at UT on Tuesday
Slip-on your shoes this Tuesday, March 2nd, and head over to see TOMS Shoes Chief Shoe Giver (and native Texan) Blake Mycoskie speak as part of the RGK Center’s Frances Moody Newman Distinguished Lecture Series and the RISE Austin entrepreneurship conference. The lecture, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 6:30 PM at the AT&T Executive Education & Conference Center ballroom on the University of Texas at Austin campus.
The lecture series, which celebrates community service and volunteerism, has invited Mycoskie to talk about his life as an entrepreneur and philanthropist. Of the five companies the 32-year old Mycoskie has started since college, TOMS Shoes is perhaps his most successful -- and famous. The shoe brand (which is favored by hipsters and people who hate to tie shoe laces everywhere) famously gives away one pair of shoes to children in need for every pair purchased.
Following Mycowskie’s lecture, you can kick up your heels at the official Style Your Sole party where guests can decorate a pair of TOMS and enter to win free shoes.
While you’re there, maybe you can ask Blake if he really does get AT&T service in other countries because we can’t seem to get it walking down South Congress.
