Dessa, P.O.S., Astronautalis at Red 7
Spoken-word performer/M.C. Dessa has a storied history - she's a philosophy graduate from the University of Minnesota, part of the female-centric a capella group The Boy Sopranos, a spoken word artist, and now, a hip-hop performer with ties to the Doomtree Collective.
She released her first full-length record, A Badly Broken Code, last month and tonight she's hitting the stage at Red 7 along with Doomtree associate P.O.S. and Astronautalis. P.O.S. also calls Minneapolis home; he's a punk-influenced rapper whose last album, Never Better, came out this time last year. Astronautalis, aside from opening the show, is stopping by the Austin Bat Cave's 7th grade class this afternoon to talk to them about songwriting and freestyling, and a podcast of this visit should be going up later today.
