Help with Nueces Bike Boulevard

Austin's League of Bicycling Voters is leading the charge to get a "Bike Boulevard" on the stretch of Nueces Street from MLK to Third Street (where it would meet the Lance Armstrong Bikeway). The concept is basically a redesign of the street to make it bike-centric instead of car-centric, although cars would still be able to use it. You can sign their petition here.

The final City of Austin Nueces workshop is February 24 from 6-8 PM, at Pease Elementary, 1106 Rio Grande. There also will be a ride afterwards sponsored by ATX Social Cycling to a free bike-in movie (free beer, raffle prizes benefiting LOBV) at Waterloo Cycles off of 29th and Guadalupe.

Anyone and everyone who rides their bike for transportation (or recreation) in central austin should show up to this meeting. This is a chance to actually make a change in your community. Don't let the small minority group of vocal business owners hold back progress in making Austin one of the best cycling cities in the country. The 2 or 3 opposing business owners do not own the streets, the citizens and tax-payers of Austin do, show them whats up!
