Weekend Music Preview: Free Week 2010 Finale

Free Week 2010 is fast coming to an end but not before affording more chances to catch some of Austin’s finest talent, including many of our favorite local artists. Christian Bland’s side project that isn’t The Viet Minh (Friday at The Mohawk), lush pop songs from Peter Wagner’s band (Friday at Stubb’s), and Chris Rose’s mesmerizing mash-ups (Saturday at Beauty Bar) are just a few marquee attractions on the horizon this weekend.

And there’s the tantalizing two-stage treat offered up by Emo’s’s on Friday. The line-up features the perennially underrated veteran act The Crack Pipes and LMIS alumni The Golden Boys parading their soulful garage rock stylings on the outside stage while the explosive sound of Ume and exciting up-and-comers Speak’s dance inducing synth-pop will be on display inside. Don’t miss out this weekend -- quality shows won’t be this cheap till mid-March.
