Nana Grizol, Geoff Reacher at Club 1808 this Saturday
The cheerful sextet were birthed out of the same scene that nurtured the Elephant Six movement in the mid '90s, and the band's brass section is, in fact, buoyed by musicians who played with bands like Elf Power, Neutral Milk Hotel, etc. But this is primarily the project of Theo Hilton and his exuberant pop songs, which were showcased on last year's Love It Love It LP out on Orange Twin records.
Lending support is that label's local representative, one man band Geoff Reacher. Reacher's clever amalgamation of acoustic folk and trippy, hook-laden electronics create a swarm of sound that really should be experienced in person.
Further adding local flavor will be The Cocker Spaniels, Sean Padilla's indie rock project that blends power pop with honest, confessional lyricism.
