Internet Radio Stations Move to Central Texas

Hat tip to Austin 360 for noticing Central Texas' newest Internet-only radio station, Power 92 Jamz. Power 92 is streaming live and features hits by contemporary hip-hop and R&B stars. There's not a lot of information on their web site right now, but it appears as though they'll be hosting events.

Power 92 isn't the only Internet station to find a home in Austin. In September of 2009, Ohio's WOXY.com moved to South Austin. WOXY broadcasts 24/7 and concentrates on independent rock and roll.

These two new stations came to town in a year when Austin's tried and true terrestrial stations went through some changes. KUT cut back the hours of some long-time jocks and brought Matt O'Reilly into the on-air fold, and KGSR saw the end of Jody Denberg's long tenure. No doubt about it: 2010 will be an interesting year for radio in Central Texas.

Full disclosure: music editor Paige Maguire also works at WOXY.com
