Christmas Cacophony Preview

Christmas Cacophony
Saturday, December 19
The Mohawk (912 Red River)

If you're of the opinion that the holiday season just isn't psychedelic enough, you're not alone - or not alone in Austin, anyway.

The Mohawk is hosting their "Christmas Cacophony" on Saturday evening, which is basically a winter version of the spring psych-fest that takes place at rotating venues around town. A film created by Alta Real Pictures of last year's Psych-Fest will be shown upstairs, while a big dose of local trippy rockers will play indoors.

Among the bands performing are Shapes Have Fangs, Horse + Donkey, and the Viet Minh. The event also features a "vintage fashion boutique," and a "holiday photo booth." It starts at eight, so don't dawdle.

The Tunnels won't be playing this evening, but The Tunnels's Chris Catalena is playing with his new project, The Ghost Songs, joined by The Black Angels' Alex Mass and Christian Bland, along with Stephanie Hunt (T-Bird and the Breaks, Friday Night Lights)
