Austin, Here's Your 2009 Google Zeitgeist

The Long Center, Cap Metro, and the ceaseless expansion of the Birds Barbershop brand were all among the top things on Austinites' minds this year, according to Google's annual Zeitgeist listing.

"Each year, we examine the billions of queries that people around the world have typed into Google search to discover the zeitgeist—the spirit of the times," says Google. The global listings were dominated, not suprisingly, by queries on Michael Jackson and New Moon.

wow, Austin. These queries aren't very weird. They're pretty boring, in fact. Let's weird it up a bit in 2010, shall we?

I wonder how many of these are the result of some automated process that's frequently looking up google results. I can't fathom why the "austin radiological association" would be in the top 10 searches.

  • You might notice Austinist isn't on the list

because I/and many have it bookmarked as a Favorite! :)
