Beer Alert: St. Arnold's Divine Reserve #9 In Stores Now

For the beer nerds out there, today is the release day for St. Arnold's highly anticipated Divine Reserve #9. The Divine Reserve series carries a hefty price tag ($14.99 per 6 pack) and is such a limited release that most shops usually sell out in a matter of hours. When the last release came out in September, there was much hand-wringing about lack of supply and hoarding! Today's release is an Imperial Pumpkin Stout (!!), which carries an 11% alcohol content and flavors of "nutmeg, caraway and vanilla...with chocolate malt with a hint of spice" according to the brewers. Spec's on Brodie Lane has already sold out, though the Airport location still has some available as of now. Follow the #DR9 hashtag on Twitter to find some near you, but don't wait long.

Pretty sure Spec's Brodie, Airport and Arbor Walk are all out at this point from the tweets that I saw.

As of an hour ago, Central Market on Lamar still had a goodly quantity. The beer guy says their shipment came rather late. They're limit one six-pack, and you'll need to ask the staff to fetch it for you.

We grabbed the last 6-pack from the Slaughter Lane H-E-B.

I love good beer, but when did Beer become something like Wine? $14.99 a Six-Pack?

I will take a Shiner, Lone Star, Real Ale, or a regular St. Arnold's.... I know some will say I have no taste. Yeah, I will meet you at the Draught house to teach some lessons.

Just think Beer is for sharing with Friends, no? Not Hoarding and hiding your stash! PASS.

I haven't tried this beer so I'm not really defending it specifically, but this is still cheaper than most crap beer you'd buy in a bar. Plus you get to use your own toilet when you're done, not the one that two-dozen other guys already missed earlier in the evening.

No doubt it's pricey; just like good Belgian beer like Maredsous is. There are a number of high-end beers that are as time-consuming and costly to create as a good wine. I haven't had this Divine Reserve and probably won't get to, but the ones I've had in the past were strong, complex, and delicious.

Understandable davetx

I am sure it is good & I would only drink this kinda expensive beer at home.
Mainly cause it is 11%!

It's actually pretty cheap in comparison to some others you can buy - Look at everyday Dogfish 90 or 120 or better yet, when Red & White comes out. This year I was seeing it upwards of $45 a 6-pack in some stores.

Wow, now that IS expensive, but i'm sure it's good. Like so, I heard about a recent Sam Adams brew that is supposed to be about 20 or 25 percent abv, and it's supposed to be upwards of 150 dollars, but I guess good beer is worth it. ;) Anywho, about availability for the #9, make sure you're checking your local Heb stores and whatnot. I just bought 2 sixers of it at 10 p.m. at the Heb... and this is 2 days after ground zero?

I know this is super late in the game, but I called several HEB's to see if they had it in stock, and they didn't. Which HEB did you buy it at, and was it out front, or did you have to ask someone to get it for you from the back? Thanks!

I picked up a six pack last night at the Central Market on South Lamar around 8:30. And like commenter #2 said, you just have to ask an associate working there to get the beer for you as they don't have it out on display. According to the sales guy "we only have a few left, we'll likely run out by tomorrow". Meaning today, so get on it.

$15 was well spent IMO as I really enjoyed this year's Imperial Pumpkin Stout creation. For a high-alcohol beer it wasn't too sweet, which has been my biggest complaint about other high gravity beers.
