The Mohawk (912 Red River)
$10, 9pm, All Ages

If you're into introspective folk music written by mountain men with thick bears beards, it may have been a rough year for you.
Bonnie Prince Billy is an actor now, and the landmark eponymous debut by Fleet Foxes seems to have been released eons ago. However! J. Tillman, member of the aforementioned Foxes and solo artist, is holding down the fort.
Somehow, the very bearded Tillman has released two solo records this year, distributed by the well-renowned Western Vinyl and Bella Union labels. Tillman's thoughtful, acoustic-based songs may be the perfect remedy to a year-long hangover of dance party music recorded on boom boxes. Or just a perfect supplement. Also performing: Pearly Gate Music. This somewhat mysterious, Seattle-based act have a new EP entitled Daddy Wrote You Letters....
