Tour:Smart And Break The Band: AMF presents Martin Atkins [Red 7 / Wednesday]

We’re gearing up for our After The Jump panel on Friday at The Mohawk where many of today’s top bloggers will discuss new media and offer their expertise. But before the Fun Fest juggernaut truly gets rolling, Austin Music Foundation presents an opportunity to learn many tricks of the trade from a true visionary in the music realm. Join Martin Atkins (Public Image Ltd., Pigface) at Red 7 this Wednesday as he imparts advice from his recent publication Tour:Smart And Break The Band.

This battle cry from Tour:Smart’s website should be motivation enough -- “You should fail because your band is shit or because you don’t have the balls. You shouldn’t fail because of a lack of some basic advice and a bit of planning. Tour:Smart will help you avoid the wrecks of ambition as you head towards the constantly moving ‘X’ on the tissue paper treasure map. We will help you know when a random collision of events is creating an opportunity or danger, whether to go for it or blow your nose on it, crash on the rocks or grind them up and snort them.” Atkins also heads up an educational program called Revolution Number Three -- learn more about it here. Besides sharing his stories, recommending formulas for success, and answering your questions, Atkins will perform with Bradley Bills from local outfit CHANT after the seminar. The event is free and starts at 7 p.m.
