I remember reading in the early 90s that the true goal of Peta is to effect a complete separation between animals and humans. They won't publicize this I read, but what they really want -- besides the more publicized goals of universal veganism and banning the use of animals in medical testing -- is for people to stop having pets. Maybe the green movement will be joining them in that cause.

It's true that the influenza pandemic took off in 1918; however, it was preceded by smaller, allegedly related epidemics beginning in 1916. Six of one, half a dozen of the other, probably.
