Old Fashions and Disappearing Islands: Two of Your Favorite Television Geniuses Will Be In Austin for AFF [Giveaway]

The relationship that we have with our televisions is an interesting one. There are times when they sit dark for long periods of time. There are times when they are always on, and then there are times when we don't really have the free space in our lives to truly watch them, but we carve out an hour here, an hour there, because the stories that they bring into our homes are that powerful. Now, we ask, which stories are the ones that you rearrange your life for? Our guess is that two of those stories are those of LOST and/or Mad Men.

LOST and Mad Men are the stuff that water cooler salesmen everywhere dream of, the kind of television shows that inspire viewing parties and passionate debate for weeks after an episode has aired. How could Don Draper so callously break our hearts week after week? Do the writers on LOST actually know where the story is going? Have they ever known? Lucky for you, the Creator of Mad Men, Matthew Weiner, and the Co-Creator of LOST, Damon Lindelof, will both be in town for the Austin Film Festival this week, and even luckier for you, you could win the chance to ask them the questions that you so desperately want, nay, need answered.

This will require a tiny bit of work on your part. Our one ask is that you send your questions for Weiner and Lindelof in to film@austinist.com, and once we have waded through the downpour of "Are you a chauvinist or a feminist?" and "Does the island actually exist on what we know as the planet Earth?", we will choose one winner for each show. The winner of the Mad Men section will get entrance for you and a guest to the Thursday night cocktail hour presentation of Matthew Weiner Presents... Mad Men at the Alamo Ritz, where you will have the chance to ask Weiner himself all about his sterling creation. The best question for LOST's Lindelof will win an AFF Lone Star Badge, which gets you into all panels and screenings on Saturday, October 24th, which include appearances from Lindelof at the Write What You Know: Fantasy/Sci-Fi panel and the TV Development panel.

Consider this your call to action. Send in those questions to film@austinist.com now! Winners will be notified by Wednesday evening.
