Authorities are waiting to contact the student's family and complete their investigation before releasing further information about the case. What's known, as the Daily Texan reported earlier today, is that he jumped sometime before 2:20 p.m., mere moments after authorities arrived at his residence that was approximately four blocks away.
APD Sergeant Mike Larner informed the Daily Texan that the victim was neither pushed nor forced over the edge of the garage. No note was found at the scene. The tragedy struck less than a month after the campus hosted its first Suicide Prevention Week in mid-September.

I would like to offer my condolences to the family and all loved ones of this extraordinary young man. He possessed a wonderful giving spirit and will never be forgotten by those people he touched during his brief time here on earth. I pray Peace will comfort all mourning his death...
This really is tragic. At the same time, I don't understand why people go onto news stories like this and leave religious comments. I'm not referring to comment above, but comments on the linked story. Also, I don't understand why people are blaming UT for not having enough mental health outreach. Help is there at UT if you seek it out, I think it's unfair to blame UT when someone slips through the cracks.
I'm just speculating, and again, this is just incredibly tragic.
I think UT does an excellent job with its mental health outreach. But it is home to 50K college students, many of whom are emotionally troubled. Some will inevitable act before seeking the treatment they need.
