Each week, we'll look at some reasons to taunt, belittle, and bully the Longhorns' football opponent. This week's Big 12 opponent: the Colorado Buffaloes.
- Daddy's Boy: Quarterback Cody Hawkins is the son of head coach Dan Hawkins, which means that his days as a starter are pretty much assured despite being too short (5-11) and too inaccurate (52.4% completion percentage, seven interceptions) to play QB for a major program. Hawkins is only a junior, so backup Tyler Hansen may want to consider other options.
- Blog Backfire: The athletic department asked cornerback Ben Burney to write a blog this season, but then shut it down after the first entry because it was too racy. Although it was written in Harlequin Romance style ("I like adjectives", Burney said.), it was pretty tame and showed that football players are people too, what with the libido and casual sex.
- Spurned: Running back Darrell Scott was the subject of a recruiting battle hot enough that it was profiled in the New York Times. But Scott turned Texas down in favor of Colorado, now he's mired in mediocrity (87 carries for 343 yards and 1 TD last year; 17 carries for 91 yards this year). Perhaps it's just as well. Texas has more running backs than they know what to do with.

How about the time their fans threw "D" Batteries at the Longhorn Band while we were marching on the Colorado Buffs field. "D" Batteries! Who brings batteries to a game with any intention other than to hatefully expel and injure?
