Yeah, when did he become the most popular singer-songwriter in Austin? What?

Okay the chronicle if officialy out of touch and irrelevent. Who cares about bob schneider? Why is there an entire spread on him in the chonricle? The music is boring, predictable and horrible. bob schneider is not austin....

The Chronicle is "out of touch and irrelevant"? Do you know who founded SXSW? Look at their ads & club listings sometime. The Chron is, bar none, the biggest supporter of live music in Austin.

As for Schneider, if you don't like his music, fine. But the fact remains he is hugely popular here. His weekly gigs at Saxon Pub are always packed. I'm not a huge fan, but some of his songs are pretty good (like "40 Dogs").

  • The wheeled cross seems to be a bit of an easy way out to me.....

  • I think the wheeled cross thing is a bit lame. It seems to miss the original intent. :)

Somehow it makes me feel better that it isn't just law enforcement in other cities and states that can't catch sketchy criminals. In DC last month, a guy shot someone and then rolled away in his wheel chair, and did not get caught. So...welcome, Houston, to the ranks of the incompetent.

The Statesman story about the Zilker partial-closure is mostly commented on by the same 3 or 4 people over and over though with the collective intelligence of a grain of dillo dirt, so the # of comments is wildly deceiving. I'm sure 99% of the people complaining don't go to that piece of Zilker more than once a year anyway. People just love to complain that their tax dollars are going to waste, despite the fact that most of your tax dollars don't do you any direct benefit at any time anyway. If you didn't visit every single park in Austin today, then some of your tax dollars were wasted. Wow, life's hard.
