PSA: If You Drive One Of These Newish Toyota/Lexus Models, Remove Your Floormat
Toyota just issued a massive recall of 3.8 million vehicles, including its luxury Lexus line, after the government issued a warning about the cars' removable floor mats.
According to the Transportation Department, the driver's side mats have the potential to force the accelerator to get stuck in a full open position, which could result in, among other negative scenarios, death. For now, says U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, “We strongly urge owners of these vehicles to remove mats or other obstacles that could lead to unintended acceleration.”
Affected models include:
- 2007-2010 Camry
- 2005-2010 Avalon
- 2004-2009 Prius
- 2005-2010 Tacoma
- 2007-2010 Tundra
- 2007-2010 ES 350
- 2006-2010 IS 250 and IS 350
