West Elm in Downtown Austin Opens This Wednesday

Home furnishings store west elm, one of the subsidiaries of the Williams-Sonoma Inc. empire, is opening its first Austin location at 5th and Lamar this Wednesday.

The 13,000-square-foot space, catty corner from Whole Foods and across from Pure Austin, is decked out with "loft settings" and, similar to any company striving for an eco-friendly image, was built out using green building techniques—low-energy lighting, low-VOC paints and reclaimed hardwood floors can be found throughout the store.

For its opening weekend, the Austin location will offer 10% off all purchases (valid from 9/30/09 - 10/4/09).

the last time i checked everyone working in that store was an austinite... and they will go out and use their resources in our fair city; there in by increasing what we in the real world like to call the economy.

all corporations are not bad... just like not all individuals whoooo.

this nimby mentality is for someone that needs to live far from 5th and lamar... you need your space whoooo; by all means please get yourself a larger backyard.
