With the Austin City Limits Music Festival approaching, Dell Lounge’s annual The Sound and the Jury contest is fast gaining momentum once again. This year’s five finalists, Andrew Tinker, The Bright Light Social Hour, The Bubbles, Mobley, and OK Sweetheart will battle it out next Wednesday (the 30th) at Antone’s for the coveted Dell Stage spot at the fest. The Steps were victorious last year, and this Thursday at Stubb’s, the Austin360 Concert Series give you the opportunity to check up on the winning band from the first installment of the competition in 2007.

The Rocketboys have since dropped the “Homer Hiccolm &” precursor from their name but lucky for us, they continue to harvest atmospheric pop soundscapes that bloom with glistening guitars and are enriched with vibrant keys. This evening’s show is the official CD release for 20,000 Ghosts which drops on September 29th -- pre-order the album here. Danny Malone’s debut full-length Cuddlebug was the number one seller at Waterloo Records during the first half of August -- he kicks things off inside with easy-on-the-ears folk-rock underscored by his impressive, introspective storytelling.

Of course, you might want to get to Stubb’s early this evening for the small matter of The Psychedelic Furs, Happy Mondays, and Amusement Parks On Fire show -- doors at 7 p.m. for that -- buy your tickets here.
