Ringo Deathstarr is celebrating the release of its brand new In Love / Summertime 7" on the U.K. label SVC Records -- purchase it here or at the show tonight. The band is hitting up the Midwest and East Coast in October before embarking on a tour of Japan and the U.K. towards the end of the year. Another 7" (You Don’t Listen) is scheduled to drop next month. But there’s more -- Sparkler, a special version of Ringo Deathstarr’s self-titled debut EP containing a few bonus songs along with the five memorable tracks that first introduced us to the band, lands in Japan in November. U.K. fans await a split 7" with The Depreciation Guild.
Visitors, meanwhile, are getting ready to unleash a video for “Dreamin’” which just happens to be our favorite song off their debut album. A second record is in the works as well per Nick Saldana from the band, who personally invites everyone to come down and celebrate Diez y Seis de Septiembre tonight at Beerland.
The happy hour festivities include the first of two sets in town this evening by O’Brother (they also perform at Emo’s later) -- the Georgia outfit is taking advantage of the very useful Better Than The Van setup while in Austin. The local networking website connects touring musicians with fans who offer traveling artists a place to crash that’s, well, better than the van. It all seems too easy -- bands can browse available couches and floors by city and country, and Good Samaritans can list their available resources by registering here.
